Hi! This is Pre. I would like to share my day to everyone and the whats and the which(s) happen in Kanayama.
So last Nov. 5, I was officially assigned to slip casting. I am very excided because this will be a new experience and new learning in my world of pottery.
This is Neko (soldiers of neko). If the left hand is up that is for love if rigth hand, its for money and success.
Everyone in Kanayama now is very busy for the upcomming tokyo dome and spring festival next year.
for slip casting this is how many we should make before the event.
I heard about slip casting way before I came here in Kanayama. During my University days i dont have a chance to study slip casting because of lack of course. Usually i just watch youtube and read books but now i have all the time to learn the ins and outs of this technique.
Slip casting have a very easy concept (i think so far easy but i dont know what will happen…) it is one technique of mass produce.
Anyway, today I pour clay in owl cases and neko again. So while waiting for them i need to trim the cats.
Last blog i told everyone that i will introduce one of the staff. So today i would like to intoduce the person who guide me in slip casting
This is Chiharu Akimoto-san. She was here for (more or less) 10 years. She works in ikomi or slip casting and wheel. Her age was secret according to her and now she likes doing DIY. She has 2 cats name Lala and Ring.
In my perspective I hardly know her because I was here for 6 months only but so far we (me and The other student) think that she is very cool.
Before comming to kanayama, Akimoto-san work in US for 10 years, (in not that sure how long). i think she was working in prostetics that is why she is familliar with anatomy.
this was her work, hidden inside the slip casting studio. Very interesting rigth!
She could speak english, and for someone like me who hardly know Japanese it is a relief.
Akimoto-san, for me is very strong and brave. For her to travel the other county on her own meaning that this lady has kicks.
Akimoto-san working in Ikomi.
As a worker in Kanayama she is very concern in the company’s well being, she wants to help the company as possible.
So this is Akimoto-san and this is what happen to me today. Please visit us soon here in Kanayama.
Thank you for reading and God Bless everyone.
i almost forgot we are currently firing Nireng Gama. Hehheheehe
